Magnet Pen - 3D files Digital Download

€4.99

The files for my Magnet Pen design which will help you insert magnets into your own 3D prints without getting superglue on your fingers or ripping the magnets out accidentally.

This is a digital download of the .STL files for the Magnet Pen. You will have to print it yourself.

For some help with assembling the pen I refer you to this video: https://youtu.be/1NO3-2myDNs

Also you will need the following hardware and tools to assemble the Pen:

Hardware

  • 6x - 5×2mm Circular N42 Magnets

  • 1x - 3×2mm Circular N42 Magnet

  • 2x - M2 Heatset inserts for 3D printing (the shallowest ones you have)

  • 2x - M2 bolts (I used 7mm long ones, 5mm also work but not as well)

Tools

  • A 3D Printer, either a 0.2 or 0.4 nozzle will work if you have a detailed enough print profile, I recommend 100% infill

  • Soldering Iron for setting the inserts

  • Superglue to attach the magnets

  • A small hexkey for the M2 bolts

Because of the geometry required for this version to work, you will need to print with supports and preferably a raft. This also means some light post processing is required unless you print with multimaterial printers and support filament. I used a stanley knife and file to clean up my Pens after printing.

I also recommend that you print the internal sides of the shell facing upwards to ensure a smooth surface for the arms and gears to move, also post processing is easier on the flat outsides.

Good luck! hopefully its useful to you!

If there is any issues or questions feel free to send me an email or message me on instagram.
