An Essentialist Tarot Deck.
GOLDEN FORTUNES
The title of this deck betrays a link to its origin in my mind.
From a young age I have been fascinated with myths and symbolism.
How ideas persist through generations of humans based on the power of story and imagination, and the wealth of knowledge they provide even when the person who first formed these ideas is long forgotten.
78 UNIQUE DESIGNS
The deck is definitely rooted in the tradition of the Rider Waite Tarot deck.
A 22 card Major Arcana followed by a Minor Arcana consisting of the Suits of Cups, Pentacles, Swords and Wands of 14 cards each.
Each design is painstakingly handcrafted by me. Often based on the Rider Waite compositions, but always mixing in inspirations of my favorite artists, antiquity and my personal experiences.
Printed in a luxurious gold foil on rich black paper stock. This deck is the culmination of the past four years of my life, and I am happy to finally be able to share it with the world.
ESSENTIALISM
Creativity loves constraints, without them it is aimless.
I set out to create this deck through the lens of what I have since come to call Aesthetic Essentialism.
Where minimalism strives to reduce its forms to the absolute least required to communicate it’s message. Aesthetic Essentialism strives to simplify with a soul. To say just enough without sacrificing the texture that makes life interesting.
